“I need to fix this rotten house!” bellowed Bill, who was a selfish troll. He was a rich troll with a humungous sack of gold, but he didn’t want to spend a penny! In the morning he woke up in a grumpy mood and sat up straight in bed.

At 2am he set out to find his tiles to mend his roof, but then something caught Bill’s eye. It was some shiny new tiles on the neighbour’s roof! Bill whispered to himself “I want those tiles.” So Bill climbed up to the tiles and when he got there he started to rip them off… clunk, clunk, clunk! Then he dropped them in the bag and dragged it back to his rotten house – clunk, clunk, clunk, and the tiles were on and he jumped down and smiled up at his work with his gritty teeth.

But then he noticed that the windows were smashed and he realised he needed to get some glass. But then he saw some really strong glass on the same house and he said frustratedly “Oh, I should have just got it whilst I was getting the tiles.” So he went back to the house but he stopped at the glass and when he got there he started to rip the glass out… tap, tap, tap! When Bill finished he threw the glass in the sack and when to put it in his house – tap, tap, tap, and he jumped down with a big thump.

He noticed the wood was rotting away in the house and he knew where he could lay his hands on some bricks. He set off greedily to another neighbour’s house to get some bricks. With his strong giant hands he began to punch the neighbour’s wall and collect the falling bricks into his wheelbarrow… thud, thud, thud the bricks went!. He wheeled the bricks back to his rotten house – thud, thud, thud and the bricks were on.

Bill stood back looking at his neighbour’s house, but at the same time he saw his neighbour’s house crumble to the ground! Even though his house was no longer old or rotten, he did not feel happy like he thought he would!
