Rose Wants Justice

Emily Gorman, Shevington Vale

Her high heel shoes made a delightful sound as Rose danced through the corridors of Tooth Fairy Central (TFC) on her way to an important meeting.

As she twirled along she wondered whether or not she would be getting a raise! This thought pulled her out of her despair – her favourite necklace with a tooth on it was missing, possibly stolen! “Shoes!” she suddenly thought, “that is what I will buy. I need more shoes! There are so many different shades of pink that I haven’t got yet: hot pink, pale pink, dark pink. Oh! A tooth fairy can truly never have enough shoes!”

Roses’s wings were glittery and sparkly, dazzling in the light. Their rims were pale purple, the inside rose pink. Her dress was also rose pink, it was her favourite colour. In the middle and on the border were little tiny embroidered hot pink hearts which she had got done down at the nearby fairy market in exchange for some of her prized teeth. On her left hand one of her fingers beheld a stunning, dazzling heart with a matching bracelet on her other wrist. Her eyes were as brilliant baby blue as the sky above. Her hair was long, golden and soft to the touch. It had ever so slight waves which contrasted with her pink highlights perfectly.

Rose was known for being the most beautiful, romantic tooth fairy of all. Anyone would agree, but right now her features were twisted in horror. Her kiss-shaped lips turned into a pout, her hair standing on end causing her rose-shaped hair accessory to fall out onto the cold, hard metal floor. Her face was scrunched up in shock and disbelief at what she was hearing.

“I cannot believe you would do this to us Rose! To go behind our backs, to betray our trust like that! To steal all the money we give to the little children!” scowled her boss, Lieutenant Star.

“It wasn’t me! Where’s your evidence? I call my first witness and my lawyer! I won’t stand for this!”

“You won’t fly for it either! We are going to confiscate your wings and fire you from the TFC!” Star snapped back, angrily.

“You can’t fire me because I quit! What is your evidence anyway? My record is perfect. Why do you think I did it? I bet it was Dave from science!”

“Is there even a Dave in science?” queried one of the guards standing protectively at the door, blocking the exit.

“Shut up!” snarled Star.

“Is the power going to your head?” Rose asked politely. Star for some reason believed she was being rude, cheeky even! Talk about how people can take things the wrong way, she was just being considerate and concerned! “You want proof?” yelled Star, incredulously. “Our evidence is that your prized possession, your tooth necklace, was at the scene of the crime!”

The nearby guard sneered again, “Your record isn’t exactly perfect either! Tardiness, cheekiness, downright naughtiness!”

Scowling she turned, flounced off down the corridor, still wearing her favourite wings. Furiously she muttered to herself, “What? How? They are not taking my wings!”

She ran back to her little house, pink of course, to look for clues. After searching continuously for hours she discovered an eye patch!

Rose's pink house.

“Pirates!” she screeched, beyond angry. Her blood boiled. She stormed out of the room, heading out to the docks (ten minutes from her house) to give them a piece of her mind and to get her revenge!

Finally, her destination! Luckily the pirates ship was still there and she raced on board!

Perilous pirate guards ran to meet her. They tied her up and held her hostage. Panting, she managed to whisper, “Parley! I evoke the right of parley! Take me to your captain!”

They grumbled before taking her to their leader. She bowed, putting on the charm, “I have heard so much about you! Everyone fears you, as well as marvelling at your immense skills of being a pirate! I would be honoured if you let me join your crew!” The captain was extremely gullible and grinned boyishly before assigning her to a cabin.

The leader of the pirates.

That night, she snuck out from her room, which was piteously small even for a fairy! Trying not to make a single sound, she crept deep into the ship where she opened up the treasure chest! She looked on with bated breath. There before her was all the money that had been stolen from the TFC! The money that she had been wrongly accused of taking and the reason she had been banished.

The treasure chest was full.

She waved her wand and right in front of her a wheelbarrow made of teeth appeared. She placed the treasure inside. On her first attempt though, it crashed to the floor with a BANG, waking up the whole ship! Rose, for the second time that day, turned tail and ran! The pirates eagerly gave chase, desperate to get back their treasure! Rose sprinted back towards TFC, just about managing to out run the ruthless pirates, leaving them in the dust.

She flung open the doors of TFC, dashing along the corridors to the meeting room where she hoped she’d run into Star. Her wish came true, she literally ran straight into the lieutenant!

“I have been wrongly accused! These here pirates stole my necklace, then all your gold, leaving my necklace behind as evidence so that I would get the blame!” she yelled angrily.

“Is this true, pirate?” murmured Star, just managing to keep her temper concealed.

“Yeh me hearties!” the captain shouted in reply. “Come on lads!”

The pirates turned, scrambling out of the meeting room before anybody came to throw them in prison! They escaped and were never seen again, apart from the occasional theft on the high seas!

Star was fired for her false accusations, Rose became the new Lieutenant and everything returned to normal.
