Peter’s Dream

Maryland Cookies, Didsbury CE Primary School

Throughout Peter’s life, he had faced many challenges. He had gone from having everything he could have ever wanted, to suddenly losing it all and becoming homeless.

Peter

PeterPeter’s face wasn’t exactly attractive, he was actually quite ugly. His nose was huge and round with many hairs and warts and scars and pimples were all over his face. His mouth was small – above it sat a big slug-like moustache. His eyes were very innocent and they always made him look like he was sad. But no-one really cared if he was upset and no-one cared if he had tears pouring down from his blue eyes onto his wrinkly cheeks. His clothes were dirty, torn and tattered. However in his pocket he had an extremely important possession – a locket. Inside the locket was a picture of him and his wife, Norma. It was the only thing he could remember her by after she passed away and he wouldn’t let anything or anyone take it. Not long after this tragedy Peter’s world had fallen apart. Despite his pleas for help, his landlord threw him out onto the street, leaving him without hope. Every single day he would hear the same words like “Horrible!” and “That’s disgusting!” as people walked by.

Peter decided to have a rest and fell asleep. next page Whilst he slept, he had a dream.

Peter dreams of his wife.

His dream was about his wife. She was breathing her last breaths. She passed away in January 2010. It was the saddest vision he had ever seen of Norma. After losing her, the locket and Maggie (his faithful dog) were the only precious things in his life.

After an okay night’s sleep (except for his dream) it was time to get some food for himself, but also for his beloved dog, Maggie. Whilst begging for money, he noticed a rich man walk past, look at him, snigger and walk away. Although Peter was angry, he let it go as he had already got some money that day.

The very next morning he saw the very same man who had ignored him, who was on his phone crossing the road.

Peter could see a bus coming.

But Peter could see a bus coming at the same time. Without thinking Peter jumped up and pulled the man off the road, saving his life. “What is your name?” he said to the rich man.

He simply replied “My name is Ryan.” Then he continued, “Thank you so much for saving me. Please, how can I repay you?”

Could this be Peter’s chance of having a friend? “The thing I want more than anything is a friend,” Peter said.

“I will gladly be your friend,” Ryan replied. “After all you saved my life. I’m sorry I ignored you yesterday.”

“1, 2, 3, 4… only 4p for today,” said Peter in disappointment. After Peter had counted his money he thought about what things he could buy with 4p, but he couldn’t think of anything. Peter had no idea what to do with his money, so he decided to save up, by begging. 20 minutes went by and not a penny more was given. Peter was fed up, he knew no man or women would give any money.

He quickly turned around and saw some bins. Then he decided that he was so desperate he would root through the bins for food. He immediately looked around to see if anyone was watching. No one watching, so he sprinted over to the bins and decided to scavenge through them and find some kind of food. Whilst he was rummaging, he found a hot dog bun but without the sausage. Without thinking, Peter stuffed the bread into his mouth, but he needed more food. Peter crawled over to the pavement and leant on a wall whilst he was still chewing. A stranger walked by and looked at Peter and was disgusted. Then the stranger kicked Peter’s numb hand. All of his money flew into the air and rolled into the drain. Ryan, his new friend ran over and generously gave Peter five pounds.

Maggie had been nearby just having a rest. Peter went to count his money but as soon as he turned around Maggie was gone. Then Peter ran back searching everywhere but he couldn’t find her. He sobbed all night.

When he awoke it must have been 4:00am, so he decided to search for Maggie through the New York streets and alleyways. Then, in the afternoon, Ryan walked past Peter and asked him, “What is the matter?”

Peter wept bitterly, trying to tell him. “Well, you know Maggie… um, well, she has disappeared.”

Ryan replied, “We need to find her!” Immediately, Ryan jumped up and started looking for Maggie.

Ryan returned with MaggieAnother day passed and still there was no sign of Maggie or Ryan. Peter sat there slumped on the pavement until Ryan returned with Maggie! Ryan and Peter were jumping up and down with joy.

Ryan returned with Maggie

Knowing Ryan and Maggie were safe, Peter went to sleep with a smile on his face.

The next morning Ryan strolled down to the park bench where Peter slept. As Peter saw him he said in excitement “My life couldn’t get any better!” Well, just as he said this Ryan had some good news to tell him. “I’m going to let you stay in my house, so when the cold winter comes you’ll be nice and warm!” Peter sprung up with more spring than Maggie!

“Thank you so much, I just have to ask you one thing… can Maggie come?” Peter questioned.

“Of course she can silly!” Ryan answered. This was truly the best day of Peter’s life, thanks to Ryan’s generosity.

Everone is happy

After a couple of weeks Christmas arrived and Ryan and Peter had Maggie and three other puppies each called Jasper, Coco and Hugo. They didn’t know how this happened until they remembered when Maggie escaped. This is when it must have happened. Now Peter, Ryan, Maggie, Jasper, Hugo and Coco live in a warm and comfortable house. Finally, Peter has found happiness.
