Once upon a time there lived a young waitress named Ella, Cinderella. She was an intelligent, polite, pretty girl and yet she had a poorly paid job. But let me tell you something, being shouted at all day and being told you’ve got the order wrong (when you know you haven’t) doesn’t stop people from arguing back and telling the customers exactly what they think of them and saying, “I know you ordered the double cheese burger, look I have the receipt to prove it!” Yes, you guessed it, that was Cinderella, and it looked as if her life would have stayed the same until…
On one ordinary day, when Cinderella was trying to get the filthy mice out of her tiny cottage, she heard a rat a tat tat at the door. It was the postman, George. He was wearing his tidy red uniform (as always) and in his hand he held a small shiny envelope addressed to her. “Letter from the most popular boy in town!” George chirped. Cinderella was very confused, a letter for her, from Charm, or as everyone else knows him, Prince Charming! It was about a disco he was having on Friday night. Now, Cinderella knew that if she was going to be able to attend she would have to tell her boss that she couldn’t work in two days time and on such short notice it didn’t go down to well. At first, there was a lot of shouting but after he had calmed down he grudgingly let her go to the disco. Then there was more shouting, except this time it was from Cinderella,”Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” Stage one was complete! But she had to be back by midnight so she could work a night shift.
This wasn’t going to plan though; she had no dress to wear, no shoes to wear and her hair certainly wasn’t ready! So she made one – as well as being beautiful she was very creative. It was made out of some old silk and some rags but it looked pretty good to her and it looked nothing less than striking to others. She quickly tied her golden hair up into a loose bun and nervously caught a taxi out of town towards the great hall.
As she gently swayed into the room, unwillingly all eyes were fixed on her. How stunningly beautiful she looked, in her silk gown with her golden hair swept back from her rosy face. She was simply perfect! Charm quickly tidied his jacket and trousers before he slowly walked down the blood red carpet and offered Ella her first dance! Ella couldn’t believe her luck. She had always worked so hard and finally she had a moment to enjoy herself and be happy for a few short moments.
Before Ella knew it, it was just striking 12 o’clock at the disco, midnight! Cinderella definitely had to get out of there and fast so she left Charm and fled out the door. But as she caught the last taxi of the night, (this was so that she could get to work for the night shift) Charm noticed one of Ella’s golden slippers on the steps.
Immediately, Prince Charming searched high and low for his Cinderella. While at work Ella heard of Prince Charming’s search and smiled to herself knowing her big secret. However, before she could finish her night shift Charm had stopped off for a cheese burger. While eating he remembered he wanted all women to try on the golden slipper he had found and demanded Ella try it too. As she slipped her foot into the slipper Charm leapt to his feet, noticing it was the perfect fit, and declared his love for her. Then he gave her a kiss and they lived happily ever after! Ella was delighted to know that dreams really do come true… even for ordinary people like her!
